Article Writers & Book Reviewers Wanted
Paid Opportunities to Write for Interfaith Multicultural Community Ministries (IMCM)
Are you a lay or ordained spiritual leader, social justice activist, or faith-based practitioner? Do you believe in advancing inclusive, anti-racist and progressive multicultural community ministry?
We want to hear from you!
Got a story idea, opinion piece, or personal essay? We want to hear about it. But first, please take a few minutes to look at our requirements, and see if your topic looks like a fit.
We are looking for articles produced by/for community ministers, chaplains, social justice advocates, and faith practitioners serving in-part or primarily outside the walls of traditional parish ministries. If you have strong visual elements such as photos, videos, illustrations, or GIFs, that’s ideal. We also appreciate articles that include people or places that aren’t always covered by traditional news sources. We especially welcome topics on unconventional or entrepreneurial ministries and social action.
Please note that we are not looking for sermons or assignments you wrote for school, academia (wrong tone/audience), or that have been published elsewhere. Writers must be a free or paid member of IMCM.
In the coming months, we are seeking articles on several themes:
Book Reviews. Is there a book you read that impacted your ministry or perspective on social justice issues? We want to review books that promote anti-oppression, interdependence, interfaith communication, democracy, and inclusion. We accept traditionally and independently published books that meet our guidelines and align with our mission. You may pitch us a book you’d like to review, or we can share with you our list of books we would like reviewed.
Interfaith Collaboration in a Community Ministry Context.
Inclusive, Anti-racist Perspectives on Multicultural Community Ministry.
Inclusive Faith-Based/Values-Based Leadership.
Entrepreneurial Ministry. Includes marketing and business strategy.
Professional Development for community ministers, chaplains, and social justice advocates who are ‘in the field’ or otherwise outside the boundaries of traditional parishes. Includes stories about conferences, summits, and reviews of trainings
Self-help and Wellness for Faith-based Workers. Includes active hope, healing rituals, and tips for resilience.
If you have an article topic in mind that doesn’t fit the above, but otherwise aligned with our mission and vision, send us an email so we can chat about it. Not sure about your topic and want to get some feedback before you write? Drop an email to Ebony C. Peace at SunstoneChapel@gmail.com.
Submitting articles
Submit article inquires to Ebony C. Peace at SunstoneChapel@gmail.com. Subject line: “IMCM Article Inquiry”
The ideal length is 800-1200 words. Active voice, short sentences, and well-placed bullet points are encouraged for readability. Submission should include an article title.

You are responsible for securing permissions for any images or content under copyright and to include that information in your submission, as well as license information for any free (Creative Commons) material. If your article is accepted, we will request a headshot (square format is preferred) as well as a 2-3 sentence short bio.
Only high-quality articles tailored specially for our audience that advance our mission and vision will be accepted. Submission of your article or approval of your article proposal does not guarantee acceptance.
What We Will Do
We will let you know if your article is accepted.
If an article involves significant editing, we will mark it up and send you suggested revisions and ask you to send us a clean copy with the suggested changes. Minor changes we may address via email.
When we are ready to post it, we will send you a mock-up via email a couple days ahead for your approval.
We pay $100 per accepted article, including book reviews. We are unable to pay for books, however we offer support in requesting “review copies” of books from publishers and authors for our writers.
